Keir is the son of an Episcopal priest and a church organist/choir director, so it’s safe to say he’s been involved with church music for virtually his whole life. Originally from Kansas, he moved to the Los Angeles area when he was 19 to join a musical theater ensemble, with which he spent several years touring the country. He also performed in professional dinner theater in Atlanta, Newport Beach, and Colorado Springs, and he sang for three years with the twice Grammy-nominated vocal group, The L.A. Jazz Choir. Keir was a vocal performance major in college, studying first at Cal State Fullerton before finishing up at Colorado Christian University, where he later became the director of vocal jazz ensembles.
Keir has a great love for a wide variety of styles in worship music. He has nearly 15 years' experience as a church choir director, 20 years’ experience as a contemporary worship leader, and he’s held staff positions at churches in Colorado, Kansas, southern California, and northern California. In addition to his church work, he gives private voice, piano, guitar, trumpet, and saxophone lessons at studios in Granite Bay and Roseville. Finally, Keir has three grown children – Chelsea, 26, Brendan, 25, and Courtney, 22 – who are all involved in musical careers of their own.
