Basics

What is the goal of the vision casting process?

The goal of the vision casting process is to seek God’s face and to ask and receive clarity regarding his vision and direction for Centerpoint’s new season. This process has given us the tools and pathways to better accomplish what God is calling us to. It has helped us define four key concepts:
Vision Statement: Where are we going?
Mission Statement: What do we do?
Values: Who are we?
Strategy: How will we get there?

Will it be a statement? A page of statements?

The vision process will result in both print and digital materials, outlining and describing our Vision, Mission, and Values. These statements describe the DNA of Centerpoint and will guide everything we do.

Who is Leighton Ford Ministries?

Who is our church consultant?

Our church consultant, Rich Hurst, has served decades as a pastor, mentor, and church consultant. He serves as the Executive Director of Ministry Teams for Leighton Ford Ministries. He has coached and consulted with the U.S. Air Force Chaplains, Adventist Singles, Southern Baptist Sunday School Board, Federal Aviation Administration, Georgetown University, and many local churches from a broad range of denominations.

Who is on the Vision Team? How was this selected?

The Vision Team is made up of elders and staff members. The Vision Team was put together by the pastoral team and Rich Hurst.

Results

What is the timeline for the Vision Casting process?

We are launching on April 27! Below is a timeline of the process thus far:
May 2024: 609 individuals from Centerpoint participated in the Transforming Church Insight Survey.
August 2024: Our church consultant, Rich Hurst, conducted six focus groups, consisting of 40 individuals ranging in age, life stage, and length of attendance.
October 2024-February 2025: Members of Centerpoint’s Board of Elders, staff, and young leaders gathered for four Vision Retreats to seek clarity with regards to God’s vision and direction for our next season.

How will the results be measured?

As we implement, we will have specific measurable moments.  In 2-3 years, we will take The Transforming Church Insight survey again which will give us direct data comparison.
While we certainly want measurable moments, the vision casting process is focused on culture change. Our goal is to become more powerfully and uniquely the church God has built us and called us to be: welcoming, relational, caring, and rooted.

What is our Vision Statement?

Our vision has been and will continue to be “Centering life in Christ.” We can’t imagine doing anything else! While our vision isn’t changing, we are updating our mission, values, and our methods and strategies to better reflect how God has uniquely made Centerpoint.

Finance

Where are the funds coming from since the church recently experienced a deficit?

Our Board of Elders believed deeply in the importance of the vision casting process and included all funds in our annual budget. We have done our best to keep costs low (like running the last two Vision Retreats without the consultant and his travel expenses).

How will it affect our program budget for each ministry, or the budget overall?

The new vision will encompass each and every part of who Centerpoint is and what we do. This means that we will need to reorient each ministry and each budget as we follow the direction that God is calling us to.

Next Steps

How can I get involved with the Vision process?

By taking the church survey and supporting the vision casting process, you’ve already been a great support. Thank you!
At the April 27 launch, we will have several initiatives that each church member and regular attender can immediately participate in. Meanwhile, please email Pastor Bryan if you’d like to get more plugged into the vision casting process before then.
We will hold an All-Church Town Hall on Sunday, June 8 from 11:30am-12:30pm. At the Town Hall, we will talk more about the vision casting process, outline next steps, and take time to answer any questions.
